Hi, my name is Adam Mills. Welcome to my corner of the internet. I hope you find something of value here.
I am a directionless thinker with an interest in governance and pretty much anything related to how we live our lives.
I believe before all else, in love and understanding, for this I am always working towards.
I believe that no person should profit from the back of another, and that both hard work, and skillful work, should be valued.
I believe in the common good, and by extension, multi-generational thinking.
I believe in the public ownership of land, for we do not persist, but the public remains.
I believe, given our highly developed society, that healthcare and housing are a right. Anything less would be immoral.
I strive to leave the world in a better place than when I found it.
This list is not exhaustive, and nor is it meant to be. Perhaps these are all just musings by some early twenty-something, but I would love to look back on this site in 30 years and still be proud of it :)
Governance, Energy, Policing and Police Reform, Public Ownership, Worker Ownership, Co-ops, Democratization of our Institutions, Unions, Our (decreasingly so) Natural Environment, Engineering, Consumer Rights, AI and Privacy, Product Longevity, Urbanism and Density, Public Tranist, Transportation, Automobile Over-Reliance, Decarbonization, Social Safety Nets, Economic Regulation, Foreign Relations, New Democracies, Civic Engagement, and Sustainability; just to name a few ;)
I am the son of a police officer and an accountant. My dad is a quasi- farm boy, born and raised in Chatham Ontario by a farm girl and a rail junkie, and my mother is a city girl, born and raised in Toronto by Croatian and Slovenian immigrants. To keep you from guessing, my dad was the ever helping police officer, and my mother the analytical (when it comes to numbers and numbers only) accountant. I am a highschool dropout, freelance audio technician, ever-searching casual gig worker, and all around handy guy. I can fix a tractor, build a website, mix a concert, tune a ski, repair your stereo, and I'm not afraid to shovel shit. In my work I have chatted with CEOs of multinationals, leaders of political parties, Jewish, Islamic, and Christian faith leaders, washed up pop stars, Canadian pop stars (whats the difference?I kid, Canadian music rocks, even if no one else cares), drag queens, christian death metal bands (they exist, look it up) and everything inbetween. I have supervised union labour, and I have BEEN union labour ✊. I have driven combine harvesters from Great Falls to Lethbridge (on the interstate no less), and I've threshed Canola on the largest reserve in Canada, home of the Blood Tribe on Treaty 7 territory. I've worked shows ranging from The Tenors at the National Club (featuring Bay Street's snootiest) to the most fringe of Caribana concerts. All this, and I'm not even old enough to own a home (but who is in this economy!?). I am always looking for new and interesting experiences, and I am always interested in listening to other's points of view. I hate writing about myself, so come back if I ever decide to write some more.
